Our Story

IONA Football Club was created in 2017 and our first teams entered the Mid North Coast competition in 2018 with 22 teams in the MiniRoos (U/6–U/11) age groups. The club continued to grow over the next few years, increasing the number of teams participating and adding junior teams in both boys and girls competitions with good success, making us the fastest growing club on the north coast.

In 2022 we entered our first senior men's team in the competition and in 2024 we entered our first ladies team in the competition.

In 2025 IONA FC had teams in every competitive age group playing in finals series, with our U/12 Girls, U/13 Boys, U/14 Boys, Men's B Grade and Men's Zone League Div 2 all becoming champions after winning their respective grand finals. We also had U/14 Girls, U/16 Girls, U/15 Boys and U/16 Boys as runners up. Overall a very successful season led by our dedicated coaches and head coach Tony Judge.

In 2026, we have 445 registered players encompassing 39 teams. We place a high priority on encouraging girls' participation in our sport, with 32% of our registered players being female.

This year we will be fielding 3 men's teams and for the first time a men's senior team in Zone League Div 1, the highest level of football available in the Mid North Coast. We will also be entering a team in U/18s after being unable to field a team in 2025, and hopefully a second ladies team following the growth and tremendous success of our junior girls' teams.

We look forward to the forthcoming season and continued success both on and off the football field.
