Iona Netball encourages boys and girls to play netball.

Players aged 6 years old (Kindergarten) and 7 years old (Year 1) are invited to join the NET program. This is a fun 10-week introduction to Netball commencing in Term 2. Your player will participate in fun games and activities to introduce them to fundamental skills used in netball. Players register directly with Hastings Valley Netball Association (HVNA) for this program.

The SET GO program is an introduction to netball for players aged 8 and 9 years old with modified rules. It focuses on refining fundamental motor skills and introducing modified netball matches. During their second year of SET (return SET) the focus is on developing netball specific skills through modified netball matches.

All players turning 10, 11, 12 or 13 will be required to attend a grading session. This will ensure players are placed in the most appropriate team. To see our grading policy please view it here.

Training times will be dependent on coach and player availability and will be confirmed once teams have been formed. Training is usually held at St Columba Anglican School utilising both outdoor and indoor courts.

Each team will be required to nominate a Parent Team Manager to be the main contact and organiser for their team. This parent will be responsible for liaising with their team coach/coaches and may need to provide support during training and on game days.

All games are played on a Saturday morning at the Grant Street Netball Courts. Game times will mostly likely be the same each week and cannot be confirmed until the draw and grading is completed by Hastings Valley Netball Association which occurs after all clubs have completed the registration process and entered their teams.

Iona Netball Club uniforms are available for sale.  Plain white playing socks will also form part of our uniform. Please feel free to sell netball uniforms that your player has outgrown on the Iona Sports Club Buy/Swap/Sell.

As a club, we will be called upon to do canteen duty. This requires us to set up and pack down the courts and run the canteen and/or BBQ. It usually occurs once or twice a season. Parents will be asked to assist with this. Additionally, Iona Netball Club will be provided with a fundraising day which parents will be called upon assist. Team managers will be asked to help organise their teams for these days.

For the 2021 season, our Club consists of 10 Junior teams in the Saturday competition and 1 Senior team in the Monday night competition.
